NEWS FROM “THE SPIRIT OF HUMANITY” GROUP

Two of our regular post contributors to our group deserve to be recognized for their “sharing the spirit”. Jacob R. Folger, Friend to the Homeless and Susie Thompson and Roscoe both show the kindness, conscientious spirit and humanity by their actions in helping others. Thank you.

“I am very grateful I am no longer Homeless. I send good energy and prayers out to all those that are still. Sitting on a cold curb after spending another night Homeless, you made my day when you stopped by with a cup of hot coffee, a handful of cream and sugar and a warm smile. Thank you! “

When you’re Homeless it seems like everything in your whole world stops and stands still. I found myself just staring into space and lost in deadened thoughts. This is one very good reason to take a moment and say hello to Homeless People and give them some conversation. Much more than just a few words they see the care and concern that you are expressing and they often feel that there is hope when it seemed like there was none.

Homeless People don’t always go to a shelter to get warm. In fact, many Homeless People never will. So please consider making a “Warming Care Package” for Homeless People you see when you are out and about. And you can give one or more to an organization that comes in contact with Homeless People on a regular basis. A Warming Care Package usually consists of items to help keep people warm like scarves, hats, gloves and mittens, long johns, warm socks – anything like that. And it can be one or more of any of these things – it doesn’t have to break the bank. Let me know if I can help with a leg up to get you started. – Jacob

It’s time to fix up a care package for a Homeless Person – Any gently used book bag of yours will do just fine. Nestle inside two pairs of socks, a comb, nail clippers, a bar of soap and soap dish, shampoo, hand lotion, hand towel, some nonperishable munchies like canned ravioli, canned fruit, peanut butter, a loaf of bread, bottled water, potato chips, pretzels, protein bars, a can opener, fork, spoon and butter knife and a good book to read and seal it with love.

Give it to a Homeless Person or drop it by the local Homeless Shelter when you head out today. Message us if you need a boost to get started.
