High profile organizations such as Best Buddies have been instrumental in drawing world wide attention to the problems of the intellectual and developmentally disabled. Between their support and the Special Olympics, my daughter, age 55, has had a productive and meaningful life. She lives with four other adults with similar problems in a home provided by the state of Oregon.
They also provide her a job that she is quite proud of. Each day she and others are taken to a state park or roadside rest area where they perform the maintenance. After completion of their morning work and lunch they spend the afternoon in an arts and crafts workshop. Their products are then sold in local shops that cater to the tourist industry.
It’s for this reason I feel so strongly about this particular issue. Wanting to “Pass it Forward”, The Spirit of Humanity was conceived and created. It’s intent is to connect charitable organizations or individuals together with altruistic people who want to help. A new non-invasive, user friendly platform free to all participants is now ready for release. All donations or volunteer services are between the charity specified and donor. 100% goes to the charitable organization.
I want to thank Tom Brady for his support of both Best Buddies and the Special Olympics.
